Oscar Party: Celebrate Hollywood Style

Glam up your Oscar party this year! Debbie Elias, one of Houston's biggest event planners, gave Lara all the tips so your party can shine as bright as the stars.

Use the party as an excuse to dress up. Or better yet, have your guests, come as their favorite nominees or dress in gowns and tuxedos.

When it comes to food, easy and simple can give an elegant feel. You might even want to forget the plates. Finger foods are always crowd pleasers. Stuffed cherry tomatoes, crab relish inside a plantain chip and mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto are great to serve. Add bamboo skewers or serve in spoons to avoid the mess.

With food come drinks! X-Rated Vodka can add excitement to any party with a great cocktail calling for one part Fusion liquor, one part Fusion vodka, one part Triple Sec and cranberry juice.

Before setting out the appetizers and creating an Oscar bar, don't forget to add the décor to set a festive mood. Arrange simple items such as an Oscar or movie reel to add a dramatic effect!

And while all the action may be on the TV, you can make it even more fun with some in-home entertainment. Create sheets with the categories and nominees and have guests fill it out prior to the show starting. The person with the most correct wins a prize. Or play 20 questions. As soon as they walk in the door, each guest has a star with a name on it taped to their back. You have 20 questions to guess who the celebrity is.  And you can mix décor with a game – frame Oscar trivia questions around the party and have guests go around and take a guess. The one with the most correct wins.

And you'll win because everyone will be talking about it the next day!
