Q: How is child support calculated? Do you have to pay child support?

A: Absolutely. Not only do you have to, but you should. It’s a crime not to pay your child support. Child support is governed by the Family Code. There's a mathematical formula in there that calculates the net earnings of the paying spouse and applies a percentage to be paid as child support.

Q: If my dog bites someone, am I held responsible?

A: Typically in Texas, we have the "one bite" rule, which means you're generally not liable if your dog bites someone the first time. You're generally only liable if you know the dog has a propensity to bit or perhaps you were violating a leash law by not having the dog restrained or that you did something negligent that caused the dog bite. Typically the first bite is free absent those circumstances.
