Miss Texas USA and Houston’s very own Crystle Stewart has been waiting for this moment for five years. Never having thought she would walk the pageant runway, let alone win, Crystle was talked into it by a friend who believed in her.
Now, five years later she is competing for the title of Miss USA® 2008 in Las Vegas. Surrounded by a bevy of beauties, that glorious crown is what Crystal is gunning for.
So how does she stay calm amongst the chaos? “I’m staying grounded,” she said as she spoke to our own Lauren Lanning, a previous Miss Texas title holder. “This is not my whole life. I want to open a charm school within three years.” But she does concede to keeping grounded through prayer and exercising her brain and body.
And what’s next for this two-time runner up and now winner? The Miss USA® 2008 competition in Las Vegas on May 11 and if she snags the crown, “being an ambassador for the United States and competing for Miss Universe® in Vietnam.”
