Houston Texans' defensive tackle Amobi Okoye sat down with Craig Roberts to talk about his rookie season, the year ahead and a special trip he took with three other NFL players.
Okoye admits that his rookie season was a rough one and that perhaps he did hit the proverbial "rookie wall," but he’s ready for the season to get underway and to show off the new and improved Amobi.
Part of the new and improved Amobi is due in part to his volunteer work. He recently got back from a trip to Nigeria along with three other NFL players. While in his homeland, Okoye helped to build wells in a village so that people would have purified drinking water and passed out AIDS and pregnancy test kits. They also showed kids what American football was all about and worked on their scholarship program, CATE (Change in Africa Through Education).
No. 91 is ready to get back on the field because not only is his performance important to the team, it's important to him that he do well too.
"I'm looking forward to this year. I'm back to me. My expectation every year is to be in Hawaii (for the Pro Bowl)," Okoye said.
See what else he had to say in Part 1 of his interview with Sports Off Center.
