Celebrity Interviews

Mike Newlin on the Rockets and T-Mac

from Sports Off Center May 2 show
Mike Newlin, a former professional basketball player and analyst, sat down with Craig Roberts at the Hooters in Sugar Land/Stafford to talk about the Rockets and T-Mac.

On the Rockets chances in the playoffs:
I think it’s a remarkable team. The chemistry is so spectacular on this team that they win even though I don’t think they should be able to win. They have such good team morale. I’m surprised they’ve done as well as they have. They’re unpredictable.

On T-Mac:
Without Battier, without Scola, without Landry, I don’t like T-Mac. Because instead of getting 20 (points) in the fourth quarter, he’ll get zero and he’ll tell (everyone) he’s tired. I’ve never heard of a superstar that would do that. Every guy I ever knew that was a great player would go hard in the fourth quarter. However, with that said, he’s an amazing talent. But you never verbalize your weakness.
