The Westbury Christian Boys Basketball team knows all about winning state championships. This year marks their 15th title in just 18 years. Their 33-6 record attests to their winning momentum. The team stopped by the High School Sports Live studio this week to talk about how they've been able to stay on top so long.
Head Coach Russell Carr on what makes the team so outstanding: They found away to come together. Each guy had something to put in the pot. We just all tried to collectively get it done. I'm really proud of these guys. They did a great job and kind of peaked at the right time.
Senior Kevin Perry on what it's meant to be a key part of the team: It's great. From my freshman year to now my role has really changed. Freshman year I was more of a defender and rebounder, but this year I had to step it up as a scorer so having that transition made it a lot more fun.
Guard Adam Boyd on what makes the team so outstanding: This team has just one thing – we're all brothers and we all practice together. We might fight but at the end of the day we all love each other and that's what accumulates on the court.
Guard Ashton Fontenot on the success of the post season: As a team we just don't want to lose. We do whatever it takes to win, and everybody had that same kind of mind set, and we just took it through the playoffs and got it done.
