With two TAPPS 5A state titles in the last four years and three in the last nine, the Houston Christian baseball team has proven they're winners time and time again.
Coach Ron Mathis attributes the success to the overall team, saying that "this one was probably the best overall team effort" he's ever seen.
Despite several injuries the team had to overcome, the Mustangs rallied together to pull out wins over top teams like The Woodlands, Tomball and the Louisiana 4A state champions.
Pitcher Will Vaughn was not only part of this championship team; he was on the team that won state as a freshman also.
"Freshman year it was just awesome to be part of the team and be around the guys and just learn a lot of stuff," Vaughn said. "This year, I got to lead this great group of guys. We had a great overall team."
