Katy Tigers senior Madison Williams is now the Texas State Bowling Champion averaging a score of 232 in the state championship.
"You go in just wanting to win, wanting it so bad you just focus," Williams said.
Despite Williams' Coach Pete McCordic saying her game is basic, he believes it's also strong, which is what helped her win the championship.
"I just think she had all the potential in the world," McCordic said.
In round two of the championship Madison scored 260, striking 11 times, but it wasn't quite as high as her final round of 279, which is now the highest scoring championship final in state history. Her final round score is just short one pin to be a perfect score. Madison credits these strikingly high scores to "having a really on day."
A championship isn't all Madison has earned, next year she will attend Central Missouri, home to one of the nation's top bowling programs, on a full ride NCAA scholarship something Madison describes as "icing on the cake."
