Elkins Knight Jordan Jolly has a knack for coming up with big plays time and time again, and the game against Travis was no exception. The Knights needed a win to get into the playoffs, and Jolly set the tone by blasting a 92-yard run for a touchdown in the first quarter.
"I was just happy that I had some open field to show off my ability to run down the field and score and put points on the board for our team," said Jolly, this week's Athlete of the Week.
"Every time he touches the ball, something exciting can happen," said coach Robert Crivellari. "We're just trying to put the ball in his hands as much as possible and see good things happen from it."
As a running back, Jolly is averaging more than eight yards a carry with 11 touchdowns, and as one of the region's top wide receiver recruits, he's averaging over 14 yards a catch with an additional eight touchdowns.
"He does whatever we ask him to do," Crivellari said. "We're very proud of him and excited to see him have such a great year."
While he's accomplished a lot on the field as a running back and receiver, he's also stepped into the quarterback position after the starting quarterback was injured.
"It's been really good," Jolly said. "I had to adjust to it this year because last year I played strictly receiver, but it was just an adjustment I had to make."
"He's one of the best I've coached," Crivellari said. "I've been coaching 21 years, and he's exceptional. We knew he was exceptional his freshman year when he showed up and then he high jumped 6'2" in the district meet so we knew he had a lot of talent."
That talent has earned Jolly a scholarship to play for the University of Houston Cougars next season.
"I'm really excited about U of H," Jolly said. "I'm going to be used to the offense already cause we run basically the same offense as they do."
