Back on her home course in Sugar Land, Portland Rosen was still on cloud nine in the wake of the single greatest round at the Girls UIL State Golf Championship where she shot a second round of six under 66, propelling her to the 5A Individual State Championship.
"It was a very fun round," Rosen said. "A lot of birdies. It was very exciting. Everything was just going my way that day."
"It was awesome," Coach Jason Jesek said. "And the coolest thing about it was that it wasn't just her that did it, it was the whole team. The team shot 307 when their best score of the year had been 325. She (Rosen) goes out and shoots a 66 when her best score had been a 70. It was kind of like that perfect day that every coach dreams of being able to watch."
After firing a one under 71 on day one, Rosen was simply spectacular the second and final round where she was four under par through the first nine holes.
And with two more birdies on the back nine, Rosen played her greatest round ever when it counted the most.
So how did she keep cool under the pressure?
"Personally, I have no idea," Rosen said. "Oh wait, I sang songs to myself. I sang some Billy Joel, some Frank Sinatra, some of my rap music that I like."
