Friendswood Mustang swimmer Cole Craigin has a lot to celebrate. The senior now holds a national record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 46.75 seconds.
After he hit the wall and saw hit time, Craigin said, "I went crazy. I was just so excited. I jumped up and threw my fists in the air."
At the UIL 4A State Meet, Craigin also set another record, actually breaking the record he previously held in the 100-yard butterfly. His win in the butterfly brought his gold medal count to six, making him the most decorated swimmer in UIL history.
Swimming coach John Little said that Cole is constantly looking for way to improve. Little said Craigin's constant refinement and constant pursuit of speed were two reasons he's come so far.
"Every time he goes somewhere, if he's in contact with another coach or swimmer, he learns from them," Little said.
Craigin's swimming career has been nothing short of spectacular.
"It's been a really amazing time," Craigin said. "It's been a great four years. I'm just really excited for the future."
